Do not look into a dictionary, you will not find the true meaning of RATA!
To find out you need to read the following story…
While walking through the streets of Dominican Republic a man whose head is crowned by a fountain of dreadlocks is being called: "hey RATA!"...."RATA! You need a taxi?"…."RATA! Look over here"….
An old man sitting in the shadow of a large tree and smoking his cigar talks to him: "hey RATA, Bob Marley!"
"All right! I understand now!" thinks the man with the dreadlocks, “It is me they are calling by the name of RATA!"
In Dominican Republic, like in a few other Spanish speaking countries, the Spanish spoken by the people was simplified, names were shortened, enhance the disappearing of the letter S like in the word "Bueno Dia" instead of "Buenos Dias" ("Good morning" in Spanish).
After traveling the world, after meeting with people so different one from the other, after searching for waves and sailing through calm and stormy oceans, the adventure of RATA started!
We can often hear people complaining about their lives, saying that the world is going the wrong way, stress, taxes, problems…. so many problems! But you could also imagine things differently and think: "I have one problem, which surfboard should I use today!" So is our world so bad….
-Waking up before sunrise, still half asleep, listening to the wind and the waves breaking in the distance, walking towards the beach carrying a surfboard and there…. what a show, every time witnessing the Creation of the World, a ball of fire slowly showing us his first sunrays, penetrating the ocean in search of freedom….
-The wind is getting stronger and is blowing in the palm trees, the clouds are passing by in the sky, the swell is lining up, the wind is side shore, windsurfers and kitesurfers are flying over the ocean…. first sensations, direction the reef where only Ocean People will ride the elements!
-Sitting on the edge of the cliff with a friend, the sun is offering a beautiful show on the horizon, the eyes of your friend are speaking by themselves: "it is going to be great, and tomorrow will be so good as well…."
